GREEN BAY, Wisc. (SPECTRUM NEWS) — About 25 people lined up outside the Green Bay Packers Pro Shop Monday morning — the first day the store has been open in three months.
The store is first of several Packers businesses to open. The others - such as the Packers Hall of Fame and and 1919 Kitchen & Tap — remain closed.
The Pro Shop opens with a few changes.
“We’ve adopted what most retailer(s) are and we came up with our own solutions,” says store manager Derek Dimmer. “We’ve got social distancing happening. A single entrance and single exit. We’ve got stickers on the floor at check out; plexiglas; sanitizer; and we’re requiring masks for employees and fans right now.”
Customer traffic was steady throughout the morning and early afternoon.
Packers officials say the team is staying flexible when it comes to safely opening its other business operations. The team is following state, local, national and National Football League guidelines as it develops its reopening plans.
Details of other openings will be announced when they are available.
The team is also gearing up for the 2020 season. It’s not yet clear exactly what that will look like — including if there will be fans in the stands or some sort of limited capacity regulation.
“We're still preparing and waiting to see where we’ll be,” says Aaron Popkey, the Packers’ director of public affairs.
