JANESVILLE, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- Thousands of families have benefited from the free meal program hosted by the Janesville School District since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. Those families will be able to count on the program for more free lunches during the summer months.

On Wednesday, the Janesville School District announced that it will extend the program through August 18th. Meals are provided to any child 18-years-old and younger. The "grab & go stations" are open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. every weekday to provide lunch for that day and breakfast for the following morning.

Parents can sign up for delivery service, but only until July 2nd. In order to have meals delivered, parents need to send a text to 608-921-1874 with their name, home address, and telephone number and the number of meals for children 18 and younger in the household. Those orders must be placed by 1 p.m. the day before for meal delivery. Deliveries begin at 9 a.m. and parents can set up deliveries for the entire week.

Meals will not be served on Friday, July 3rd, because of the July 4th holiday. Starting on July 6th, two more sites will be added for families to grab meals.
