RACINE, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) - With 763 confirmed cases and 16 deaths tied to COVID-19 so far, Racine Mayor Cory Mason knows residents still have a long road ahead of them to turn the corner in southeast Wisconsin.

"We know that all the recommendations that we're getting from health officials, to follow the Safer at Home orders, to do the social distancing," Mayor Mason told Spectrum News 1 Tuesday. "We just got over 500 cases in the City of Racine as of today so obviously we're concerned and need to make sure everybody's being smart and staying safe."

In addition to the 763 cases in Racine County, the Central Racine County Health Department reports another 5,443 cases in surrounding counties, including Milwaukee County which continues to have the most cases in the state.

To help slow the spread, there is free drive-thru testing available through Friday at Burlington High School. No appointment is necessary.

"If you are symptomatic, you should reach out to your physician and have a conversation with him or her about whether or not you can get tested," Mayor Mason added. "Beyond that, we're looking to expand testing opportunities in the City of Racine and hoping to have the National Guard here to expand statewide testing."
