MADISON, Wis (SPECTRUM NEWS) — A Madison area family is celebrating the first anniversary of a bittersweet passion project:  publishing the memoir of a late Ovarian Cancer survivor.

Widow Paul Hansen says his wife Laura’s final wish was to see her account of a more than decade long journey battling the disease published.

Her sister Karyn helped with the copyediting.

’It was really hard at first because at first if I wanted to change a period or put a comma, it was difficult, so it took a long time to touch her words and adjust them and really do it with her voice,’  Karyn Chacon said.

The project hopes to inspire and help survivors and their loved ones find comedy and compassion.
