TOWN OF SOMERS -- A plan to expand Highway S in Kenosha County from two to four lanes means many homes and businesses along that stretch will have to be razed.

Kenosha County is in the process of purchasing the properties and demolishing the buildings, but some property owners don't think they're getting a fair shake.

Fred Kevek owns Badger Diesel. He says he can't find a similar building for his business for what the county wants to pay for his current site."They've used 2015 and 2016 comps to value my building. After the Foxconn announcement everything in real estate has absolutely exploded. Things have gone up as much as 50 percent.  What they want to pay me I cannot replace my building for what they want to pay me even though I can prove to them what it costs.  They don't care."

Kenosha County says it has completed most of the property purchases and continues to work with those who haven't sold yet.

Highway Director Clement Ablonka says they understand it's a difficult process. "It's a daunting task and the county understands that and the county is doing everything in their power within the limits of the law to make sure we accommodate these people."
