MADISON, Wis. (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- With personal protection equipment in short supply — Boys and Girls Club of Dane County’s CEO Michael Johnson made a special trip to Kentucky this weekend.

Johnson learned Woods True Value CEO Matt Woods would make him a deal on the coveted KN-95 medical grade masks.  The Woods family is selling the items — at cost — to the club.

‘The only people who can get these masks are people who can buy quantity," Matt Woods said about his company's effort. "So if you are a non profit or first responder, we are trying to get it in the right people’s hands,’  Woods added.

Johnson needs $25,000 to help cover the cost of the purchased masks.  He plans to distribute them to health care workers and at risk populations through clubs across Wisconsin and beyond.

"They [the masks] help us protect people, we will do whatever we can,"  Johnson said.
