Heavy, wet snow will be possible across the state Tuesday as our next storm system slides by to our south. Snow will begin late Tuesday morning in western Wisconsin and push east and northeast throughout the day. The heaviest snow will impact both the Tuesday afternoon commute and the Wednesday morning commute. Plan ahead to take things slow and leave yourself plenty of extra time.
Winter Weather Advisories & Winter Storm Warnings are in effect through Tuesday morning. Snowfall totals will range from around 2"-3" in extreme southeastern Wisconsin to upwards of 8" in parts of central and northeastern Wisconsin. Some warm air will try to creep north of the WI/IL border so a mix of wintry precipitation will be possible in parts of Racine & Kenosha Counties. However, if that cold air hangs on, we could have higher snow amounts there. Weather models have not been great at handling just how far north that warm air makes it, but overall, it does look like some will at least briefly make it into that area.
Snow continues into Wednesday morning with the last flakes wrapping up by midday. Thursday looks mainly dry and cold but Polar air arrives on Friday with highs in the single-digits and overnight lows dropping well below zero!
