SALEM, Wis.— Biggie Paws Rescue, a foster-based dog rescue in Salem Wisconsin, recently became the first of eight rescues and shelters in Wisconsin chosen to participate in a Jordan's Way charity campaign: Clear the Shelters 50 State Tour.

Jordan's Way's founder Chris Rotonda started the charity in honor of his rescue dog Jordan who passed away in 2018.

"I decided I was going to do something to remember [Jordan] and to bring awareness... to the dogs that are unnoticed. There are so many animals in shelters and rescues. I like to bring attention to them, while fundraising at the same time," he says.

Rotonda hosts a fun, four-hour Facebook live event aimed at raising money for shelters and rescues across the country.

"Rescue has been an all-time high for homeless animals. Everybody's been at home for work, and so we're so excited to be chosen," says Gina Defalco, director of Biggie Paws Rescue .

Biggie Paws rescues dogs off euthanization lists and transports them up to Wisconsin from Texas.

Since starting the foster based rescue seven months ago, Defalco and her team have  saved more than 300 dogs.

With the help of Jordan's Way, Biggie Paws raised $5,000. They'll be giving 20% of that to Jordan's Way, and 80% helps the rescue directly.
