WESTBOROUGH, Mass. - How long will a giant ice sculpture last outside before completely melting?

It's a fun question the Westborough Athletic and Social Association [WASA] is looking to answer.

The WASA held their first annual Ice-Out on Sunday afternoon, in which they installed a massive ice sculpture in front of the Hastings Elementary school.

The piece of ice is six feet tall, four feet wide, and nearly two feet thick. It weighs more than 1,200 pounds.

For $5, you can guess what day and time the ice will completely melt to the base.  It could take three to four months.

The WASA focuses on fundraising for youth sports, activities, and high school scholarships, and they say the last year has been difficult raising money.

The person with the closest guess will receive a $500 cash prize. One hundred percent of the proceeds will benefit students in Westborough.
