WISCONSIN— Wisconsin Department of Health Services reported 141 new hospitalizations on Wednesday, Oct. 7. This is a record-high for the state. On Thursday, Oct. 8, they report another 110 hospitalizations which brings the total number of hospitalizations since the beginning of the pandemic up to 8,061.

On Wednesday, Wisconsin Hospital Association reported there were 873 Wisconsinites in the hospital. 219 of those were ICU patients.

The following day, WHA says there are 907 total coronavirus patients in the hospital, and 228 of them are ICU patients. Both of Thursday's patient counts are also record-highs for the Badger state.

398 people are on ventilators or a form of ventilatory equipment.

A month ago, on Sept. 7, Wisconsin had 289 COVID-19 patients in hospitals. That number has just about tripled in the course of a month.

On Wednesday and Tuesday, Wisconsin DHS says that hospitals are at 84% capacity statewide. This is what prompted Gov. Tony Evers to activate the Alternate Care Facility on Wedenesday. That number has remained steady through Thursday.

All seven healthcare emergency readiness coalition regions were considered to have "high" or "very high" coronavirus activity.
