WISCONSIN, (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- On Thursday, Wisconsin saw an additional 839 new positive coronavirus cases. Over the course of the pandemic, the state has seen 57,779 positive coronavirus cases. 9,562 of those are currently active. 

 

47,221 people infected with coronavirus have made a full recovery. The recovery rate is 81.8 percent. 4,881 people have been hospitalized due to the virus, a total of 8.4 percent of all those infected. 

We have lost a total of 978 Wisconsinites to COVID-19. The coronavirus death rate is 1.7 percent. 

 

On the case positivity front, Wisconsin has seen improvements this week. At the beginning of the week, the positivity rate started at 9.6 percent. Thursday's daily positivity rate sits at 4.7 percent, bringing the weekly positivity rate thus far to 5.42 percent. 

 

The positivity rate is the percent of positive tests out of all the tests administered statewide. 

Wisconsin is on track to potentially have the lowest weekly rate it has seen in more than a month and the second straight week of a decreasing positivity rate. 

As of Thursday, Wisconsin has tested more than 1,000,000 people. 

Nationally, there have been nearly 5,000,000 confirmed coronavirus cases since March. 97 to 99 percent of US citizens have survived and/or are expected to recover. The US has lost more than 159,000 lives. More than 7,000 of those deaths occurred in the last week. 

 

There have been more than 18,000,000 positive coronavirus cases worldwide. The international death toll currently sits at more than 710,000 people.
