MILWAUKEE (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- Downtown Milwaukee is expected to have heavy crowds and traffic Tuesday evening. 

President Trump's rally will be taking place at the UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and just next door, the Milwaukee Bucks will be facing the New York Knicks. Both events start at 7pm.

The Repertory Theatre, less than a half-mile away from both venues, is also premiering a show at 7:30 pm.

Bucks officials are advising fans to arrive as early as possible, they are opening their doors for the game at 5pm, 30 minutes earlier than usual. 

UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena is opening its doors at 3pm for those attending the rally.

Milwaukee city officials expect congestion and people traveling through the Milwaukee downtown should also keep delays in mind, as the following streets are expected to be closed:

  • Kilbourn Avenue between Vel R. Phillips Avenue and 6th Street throughout the day
  • Vel R. Phillips Avenue between State Street and Kilbourn Avenue throughout the day
  • State Street between Vel R. Phillips Avenue and 6th Street throughout the evening
  • 6th Street between Kilbourn Avenue and State Street intermittently throughout the day

Milwaukee police Chief Alfonso Morales told Spectrum News, his agency anticipates they will manage the events ahead successfully when it comes to safety and traffic control.

"Milwaukee police department we have it handled, we have a great relationship with surrounding jurisdictions and they will be available to help us if need be", assured Morales.

Parking will be very limited in the downtown area, Bucks officials anticipate their garages to be used heavily. Reserving parking in advance is recommended.
