WISCONSIN (SPECTRUM NEWS) -- With many states under a stay at home order there's now data that shows how people are moving around.  So how does Wisconsin rank when it comes to efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19?

As of Thursday morning, Unacast, a location and data analytics company, puts Wisconsin in the top tier of states doing well when it comes to social distancing. Our B rating means there's been up to a 70% decrease in the average distance traveled prior to COVID-19.

This company measures human mobility, posting the data on a scoreboard that includes an interactive map.  You can break down each state by county.  The scoreboard is updated daily, which often changes the rankings.

Similar data from the Wisconsin DOT.  It has seen a drop in traffic volumes.  The state agency monitored traffic at key locations throughout the month of March.  The biggest drop in passenger vehicles, down 50%, happened the week of March 22nd when Governor Evers' Safer at Home order when into place.

The Chief Medical Officer for the Department of Health Services believes things could be a lot worse in Wisconsin.  "I'm convinced that the interventions we've taken so far have lead to fewer transmission events," said Dr. Ryan Westergaard.  He also pointed out, "we get to determine by how well we do social distancing what the curve looks like when this is all over."

The free Unacast dashboard was created as a way for governments and other organizations, fighting the virus, to gain insight into the effectiveness of different social distancing strategies.
