LOS ANGELES — Sweet Lady Jane, a popular bakery in Los Angeles, has closed all its locations after more than three decades of business.
Known for its Triple Berry Cake, the bakery had a cult following that included locals and celebrities alike.
A note to its customers on its website said in part that “sales are not enough to continue doing business in the state of California, allowing us to service our lease obligations and pay our treasured employees a living wage.”
“It has been a privilege to be included in your sweetest moments. Big and small,” the business noted.
Founder Jane Lockhart first opened the bakery on Melrose Avenue in 1988.
The last day of business was Dec. 31, 2023.
