1. Universal masking now recommended in every Ohio county

As of Sunday, masking is recommended regardless of vaccination status in every Ohio county based on updated Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines. 

2. Amid Afghanistan withdrawal, lawmakers point fingers at Biden, Trump

As the situation in Afghanistan worsened, amid the Taliban’s rapid takeover and subsequent U.S. evacuations, lawmakers on both sides of the aisle pointed fingers at the Biden Administration, the Trump Administration, and, in some cases, both the current and former president alike.

3. Cincinnati Public Schools prepare for another year of mask-wearing

The school board unanimously voted earlier this month to continue its universal mask mandate from the last school year. That means regardless of vaccination status, all students, teachers and staff must wear a mask when inside a CPS school building or facility.

4. Death toll of powerful earthquake in Haiti soars past 1,400

Rescuers and scrap metal scavengers dug into the floors of a collapsed hotel Monday in this quake-ravaged coastal town, where 15 bodies had already been extracted. Jean Moise Fortunè, whose brother, the hotel owner, was killed in the quake, believed there were more people trapped in the rubble.

5. Piece of Cedar Point roller coaster hospitalizes woman

According to the Ohio Department of Agriculture, roller coasters in Ohio are required to undergo two inspections per year with two inspectors per visit.
