TAMPA, Fla. — The city of Tampa is starting up a new program to help hurricane victims in the area.

City leaders have announced the Homeowner Disaster Assistance Program.

This is meant to help people who were affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton last year.

Eligible homeowners can get up to $20,000 through the program.

Those who apply must live within city limits and cannot earn more than 140% of the city's area median income, which is about $133,000 a year.
