OHIO — Several hospitals were named to Newsweek's World's Best Hospitals 2025 list, including Cleveland Clinic being named the No. 2 hospital.

The list compiles the best hospitals in 30 countries based off of comparability factors such as standard of living, life expectancy, population size, number of hospitals and data availability. Hospitals are ranked through an evaluation process including an online survey of thousands of medical experts, patient experience data, hospital quality metics and a Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) survey.

There were more than 2,400 ranked.

This is the seventh year Cleveland Clinic has taken the spot, with the No. 1 spot going to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.

“This recognition is a direct reflection of our 83,000 caregivers, who form the heart and soul of our global organization,” said Cleveland Clinic CEO and President Dr. Tom Mihaljevic, holder of the Morton L. Mandel CEO Chair. “Their dedication, compassion and commitment to excellence are the pillars of Cleveland Clinic care. Every day, they answer the call to serve those in need.”

There were four total Ohio hospitals that were ranked within the featured 250 listed.

University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center was ranked 221; Cleveland Clinic - Fairview Hospital was ranked 225; and Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center was ranked 245.

“Being a caregiver carries a tremendous sense of purpose, and our patients inspire us to stop at nothing short of excellence," said Mihaljevic.
