Police said they received a call at 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to report a shooting at the KDC/One facility on Smith’s Mill Road in New Albany.
New Albany Chief of Police Greg Jones said Foster was an employee at the facility, but the motive is unknown at this time. Jones added they interviewed people at the facility, and there were no reports of confrontation or dispute that would have led to the shooting.
Jones also said the victims all worked there. At least one victim was taken to Mount Carmel St. Anne's Medical Center in Westerville, and another three were sent to a different Mount Carmel location, according to authorities.
Jones described the shooting as a “targeted type of attack” and said officials don't believe the suspect poses a general threat to the public.
“This is a tragedy that to be honest with you I never thought we’d see in our community,” Jones said. "Our officers, alongside multiple agencies, responded swiftly to protect lives and secure the scene. We train for situations like this, and while it is something no community ever wants to face, we were prepared to act quickly and effectively. We will continue working to bring this situation to a full resolution.”
