COLUMBUS, Ohio — Three shooting ranges in Ohio will be offering a Free Range Day, hosted in partnership by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife and the National Shooting Sports Foundation from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 17.

The Division of Wildlife shooting ranges you can go to, according to an ODNR press release, are the following:

  • Deer Creek Wildlife Area at the corner of State Route 207 and Cook Yankeetown Road Northeast in Mount Sterling
  • Delaware Wildlife Area at 1110 State Route 229 in Ashley
  • Spring Valley Wildlife Area at 3570 Houston Road in Waynesville

According to the release, those who attend will receive “hands-on experience” with firearms by certified instructors, and equipment, ammo and eye/ear protection will be provided.

They also note that the shooting range permit normally required will be waived at all Division of Wildlife Class A, B and C ranges on Aug. 17. Those permits normally cost $5 daily or $24 annually.

“Free Range Day is offered in conjunction with the National Shooting Sports Foundation Inc.’s National Shooting Sports Month,” the release reads. “Division of Wildlife public shooting ranges provide comfortable, safe places to hone skills with rifles, shotguns, handguns, and archery equipment. A complete list of range facilities, and the amenities offered at each, can be found at wildohio.gov.”
