AKRON, Ohio — Akron Children's Hospital is expanding services in Greater Cleveland with a new outpatient surgery center, a pediatric urgent care center and providing more access to in-demand specialists, the hospital announced.

  • In addition, Akron Children's will be welcoming pediatric orthopedics and ENT this summer on July 22 and Aug. 5, respectively

“We think we can address an unmet need by making our pediatric specialists and surgeons more accessible,” said Chris Gessner, president and CEO of Akron Children’s, in a release. “Parents want the highest quality pediatric care, and they want to be able to schedule appointments quickly and easily through an app or online. Our team is 100% kid-focused and it is our job to help them grow up safe and healthy.”

The new Pediatric Outpatient Surgery center opens July 23 at 3755 Orange Place, Suite 102, in Beachwood. The center will provide timely pediatric surgical care for eastern suburb families, Akron Children’s said. It will provide pediatric gastrointestinal care, and orthopedic and ENT surgeries. It has plans to add other surgical specialities by early next year. 

“We are replicating the care we provide in our outpatient surgery centers in Akron and Boardman with the same surgeons, anesthesiologists and surgical services staff caring for patients in Beachwood,” said Dr. Daniel Goldstein, a board-certified pediatric anesthesiologist and medical director of the Akron Children’s Outpatient Surgical Center in Beachwood, in a press release.

The pediatric urgent care center will open July 15 at the Akron Children’s Health Center at 3733 Park East Dr., Suite 230. It’ll have daily hours from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to Akron Children’s. The hospital said the center will be good for illnesses that are not life threatening, but are concerning, as well as injuries.
