COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio State Athletics Director Gene Smith held a press conference Tuesday detailing what fans can expect before Saturday's home opener at The Shoe against the Oregon Ducks.

What You Need To Know

  • Officials are expecting more than 90,000 fans for Saturday's game

  • Masks will be required in indoor areas regardless of vaccination status, but not in outdoor areas

  • Parking, tickets and concessions will all be cashless

Smith said there will be changes to the ticketing system and parking. In August, the university said it will be going cashless for parking. Smith said fans will be able to get their tickets in the parking lot, and they should have their credit cards or anything else they need ready. There will also be no more paper tickets and instead the Ohio State Buckeyes app will be utilized.

All gates will have ticket pedestals, 120 total. Fans will use the pedestals by scanning their tickets from the app to gain access.

"Come as early as you can," urged Smith in an attempt to keep operations moving smoothly and let guests in safely.

Masks are required to be worn in any indoor locations, regardless of vaccination status. This includes restrooms, the press box, elevators and the Huntington Club.

Smith also mentioned that fans won't need to empty their pockets going in through the metal detectors unless directed to do so. Officials didn't go in depth with this, but reiterated that they want to get everyone in as fast and as safe as possible.

There is still a no large bag policy in place for the stadium. Bags smaller than 5x8x1 inches will be allowed. Guests who have medical or child care can also carry one bag that is no bigger than 14x14x4 inches.

Concessions will be expanded and cashless.

Smith said they're expecting more than 90,000 fans in the stadium, and there's around 10,000 tickets available for Saturday's game.
