RALEIGH, N.C. -- Putting on her uniform is about the only thing Violeta Ellis needs help with.

When she starts volunteer work at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, she's unstoppable.

"I love to help anyways," Ellis said. "If you have the time, why not do it?"

These days, Ellis has a lot more time, but she keeps busy. At age 92, she recently moved into the Abbotswood at Stonehenge senior living community, but somehow, her daughter says she doesn't show signs of slowing down.

"She's been coming to volunteer at the hospital with Uber, and then I pick her up in the afternoons," said Ellis' daughter, Monica Schario. "I didn't want her to give up this. Even though she can't drive anymore, that doesn't mean she can't still volunteer."

Ellis has been an 'Everyday Hero' her entire life. Currently, she's helping out with special projects at the hospital, putting together patient packets, and at times, acting as a translator for Latino patients.

"I always have looked for something extra I can do," Ellis said. "I like that. You make friends, you're busy, and you're helping people."

She's been working alongside some of the same people since she started there in 1989.

"She's a wonderful person," said friend and fellow volunteer, Rita Venezia. "I've known her for so long, I can't even remember. She's always here with a positive attitude."

It's the people she meets and those she serves that keep her coming back week after week, year after year, decade after decade.

"I hope all of the work that she does at age 92 inspires somebody," Schario said. "We all have a little bit of time where we can do this."
