CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A random act of kindness helped heal a hurting heart.

Laura Kasay's two dogs recently ran away from home after an issue with her electric fence.

Bo and Belle, both 2, decided to explore their neighborhood and beyond.

"I was literally sitting down in a chair with my husband and son and just. I couldn’t talk. I was so concerned,” said Kasay. She says the pups darted toward a busy highway in Charlotte.

Bo and Belle's venture lasted several hours, until 16-year-old Bella Farr stepped in to save the day.

"[Their] body language was very scary and they were dehydrated,” said Bella.

Farr knew time was of the essence. She cornered Bo and Belle, loaded them into her car, then put the word out about the lost dogs.

This selfless act left a lasting impression on Kasay.

"I can't even tell you how grateful I was. Just the kindness and courage that she showed to rescue them just blew me away,” said Kasay.

"Anytime I see an animal in need, I try to do my best to help them and get them with their owner or comfortable,” said Farr.

Farr's gracious nature earned her the well-deserved title of "everyday hero." and a friendship forged from a simple act to help others.
