After a tight first quarter, the Vikings (28-2) opened the second quarter on a 9-0 run and the Bulldogs didn’t get closer than four points the rest of the way.

Balanced scoring was another key, as four Princeton players tallied between 13 and 18 points. Diawna Carter-Harley was top scorer with 18 and pulled down nine rebounds. Kali Fortson—child of former Cincinnati Bearcats star Danny Fortson—had 16 and 12 rebounds. Sole Williams scored 13 and handed out eight assists, while La’sonya Hill also had a baker’s dozen.

Danielle Cameron continued her assault of the nets and state tournament record book with a 22-point performance to lead Olmsted Falls. For the second straight game, she made six 3-point baskets, establishing a record for most in a Division I championship game. The previous mark was five, set by Mount Notre Dame’s Mel Thomas against Dayton Chamindae-Julienne in 2005.

Cameron’s 12 for the weekend set a new Division I record, while matching the most for all divisions (Anne Schaefer for Roger Bacon in 1995).

Paige Kohler added 17 points, as the Bulldogs (22-4) reached the state tournament for the first time in school history.

The Vikings are now 6-0 all-time when reaching the state tournament. This 2023 title will go alongside the 2014 and 1987 ones in the trophy case.

Next weekend (March 17-19) brings the OHSAA boys’ state tournament, back at the University of Dayton Arena. All semifinals and championship games will be live on Spectrum News 1 and the Spectrum News App.
