Senator Sherrod Brown is in New Hampshire Friday night, as he continues exploring the idea to run for President.

Brown’s first appearance in New Hampshire as a potential presidential candidate was an intimate one, with a round table discussion featuring a few dozen people, that lasted about an hour and focused on the topic of paid family medical leave.

The senator listened to panelists and weighed in when he saw some parallels between what was happening in New Hampshire, with what was happening back home in Ohio.

Brown also took some questions from the audience, ranging from criminal justice reform to how to help students crippled by loan debt. Several people Spectrum News spoke with following the event described the senator as genuine.

People like Victoria Stella who lives in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

“He came across as really genuine to me and that’s really important because I think the voters are going to respond really positively to that, on maybe both sides of the aisle," Stella said.

This is the first of five events Brown will be holding in New Hampshire this weekend. Just hours before the round table started, it was announced Ohio Mayor Nan Whaley — who also co-chairs a Draft Sherrod 2020 group — is heading to Iowa to campaign for him after his trip there last weekend.
