“Self-motivation is the best motivation you can have because I literally motivate myself every day that I wake up and do this,” said Evans.

This summer, he started a business selling beverages and snacks along a busy street in Cincinnati. He takes pride in being an entrepreneur.

“Working for people, to me, is just like modern-day slavery,” he said. “I found that out when I was 15, and I’m only 17, so I don’t plan on having a job.”

He was inspired to start the business to help change his life around after hanging out with the wrong crowd.

“They were showing me the wrong things and taking me down the wrong road, but once I met somebody who wanted to actually see me doing something positive and doing something good, then I came up with selling waters,” he said.

During the past couple of months, his business has gained a lot of success and support from the community, something Evans said he is proud of.

“I don’t have to be doing something that is negative and having supporters, but I’m doing something positive and having positive supporters,” he said.
