TRENTON, Ohio — Edgewood City Schools in Trenton had only been back in school in person less than two weeks, when a notification was sent to parents early Wednesday morning. It stated there was an “active threat" and students and staff should not report.

  • A student threatened to "shoot up" Edgewood High School

  • The district cancelled classes Wednesday as a precaution

  • The student was arrested

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office got word of the threat just after midnight when a 911 caller told them of the social media threat.  

Deputies say an Edgewood High School student posted on Instagram that he was going to “shoot up the school with a glock and an AR."  Deputies say the student’s mom told them she did have guns in their house that were locked up.

The student was arrested. He’s charged with making terroristic threats.

Deputies say a second student wasn't involved.
