As Ohioans remember men and women who died while serving in the U.S. Military, Lt. Gen. Michael Ferriter, the president and CEO of the National Veterans Museum and Memorial, shared with Mike Kallmeyer about what people can expect when visiting the facility in downtown Columbus.

“It was designed to look to anyone who was coming that it was made on purpose, it was built on purpose, for the veterans and their families and the whole community,” Ferriter said.

Once inside, there are different areas that tell the stories of veterans from all branches of service and all time periods. Letters written to families by veterans and videos of the veterans themselves telling their journey are all a part of what makes the experience unique.

“They [visitors] will come away with the thought, the keen, or understanding that we have men and women who will sacrifice it all for our freedoms,” he said.
