Colder weather means birds have a harder time finding the food they need. You can help our feathered friends, but there are some do's and don'ts to follow.
You can feel confident giving your birds any of the varieties of wild bird seed or suet sold at your local store. However, don’t leave them bread. It lacks nutrients that can even cause physical harm.
Put your bird feeders either right next to your home or at least 30 feet away from it. In between, birds can get confused and fly into windows. You can take other steps to limit bird collisions, too.
A heated bird bath gives birds a reliable place to drink. You’ll need to keep it clean, though.
