Just about anything can happen in Ohio on St. Patrick's Day in Ohio.

What You Need To Know

  • The warmest temperatures on St. Patrick's Day have been in the mid to upper 70s

  • We've seen single-digit lows in the coldest years

  • More than four inches of snow has fallen on the holiday in years past

  • Expect a warm, dry St. Patrick's Day this year

The "typical" forecast on St. Patrick's Day in Ohio actually looks a lot like the usual forecast in Ireland.

Highs in Dublin, Ireland average the upper 40s to near 50 degrees, with lows in the upper 30s to near 40.  Across Ohio, we average slightly colder overnight lows, in the lower 30s, on average.

Even though Ireland is farther north, it's situated near the Gulf Stream in the Atlantic. Water temperatures in the mid to upper 40s help prevent temperatures from getting quite as cold.

However, mid-March is a time when big swings in the weather are likely over a very short span of time. We can see anything from 70s to several inches of snow on St. Patrick's Day.

This year, while we're not expecting records, it will be unusually warm. Highs will be close to 70 degrees.
