Get ready for a lot of rain as we wrap up 2020 and head into 2021. Two systems are forecast to impact the Ohio Valley late this week and into the weekend.
The first will be a cold front which brings rain late Wednesday into Thursday. Rain will taper off to showers Thursday night and may even end as a few flurries as colder air moves in behind the front.
On Friday, a potent low pressure system will lift from the Gulf Coast into the Ohio Valley, bringing with it copious amounts of moisture. Rain will increase and become heavy at times.
As the rain arrives early Friday, temperatures may be borderline near or just below freezing, especially across northwestern Ohio. This could lead to a period of freezing rain early Friday before warmer air gets drawn northward, changing any precipitation to all rain.
Rainfall amounts will range anywhere from one to as much as three inches from Thursday through Friday night. This will lead to an rise in area rivers and streams and perhaps lead to a threat for some flooding.
