Since Monday we’ve seen accumulating snow, arctic temperatures, and bitter wind chills throughout the Ohio valley!
A major cold front arrived Monday with the first snow of the season for many into early Tuesday. Behind the front, the winter flood gates opened as record breaking cold air spilled in Monday night into Wednesday.
In some spots enough snow fell on Monday that new daily record snowfall totals were set! Old standing records from cities like Cincinnati (0.5”, 1894) and Columbus (0.5”, 1894, 1983) were shattered! State wide snow totals ranged from around 2 inches to 5+ inches. Higher totals across NE Ohio with additional lake effect snow showers into Wednesday morning. However, no new snowfall records were set in NE Ohio. Records are safe for many in NE Ohio like Cleveland’s record of 7.2”, 1996 for November 11th.
