MARYSVILLE, Ohio — A high-flying festival will soon be hovering over the Buckeye State on a mission to give back to Ohioans in need. The All Ohio Balloon Festival returns to Marysville Aug. 5-7.
Around 20 hot air balloons will be on display, including the Darth Vader and Yoda balloons from Belgium. There will also be an opportunity to ride in a hot air balloon, as well as take flight in helicopters and biplane rides.
The festival got its start in 1975. Today, it remains a nonprofit event. This year, proceeds will go to the local Avalon Theatre and The Hope Center.
“The money that we get at the gate, we don’t keep,” said Marie Woodford, the event coordinator. “We give everything back to help the less fortunate.”
Other festival experiences include live music, a kids' fun area, a variety of food, and the fan-favorite night glow. Gates open for the All Ohio Balloon Festival on Thursday, Aug. 11 at 5 p.m.
