COLUMBUS, Ohio — A quest to try the best treats and eats across the country led two foodies to open a new business in Ohio.
The Yard Milkshake Bar is now serving over-the-top desserts in Columbus. Kelsey Harrington and her husband dove head-first into the new business venture after visiting the original Yard location in Gulf Shores, Ala.
“We saw a sign up saying we want to franchise to all 50 states,” said Harrington. “We knew this would be a great opportunity because there is nothing like it in Ohio.”
With more than 25 different ice cream flavors the list of possible milkshake creations is endless. Harrington said The Yard’s shakes are sure to satisfy not only your sweet tooth but also your Instagram feed.
“It’s just a unique experience,” said Harrington.
Some shakes are decorated with cotton candy. Others go heavy on the sprinkles and whip. There are also a number of shakes which feature a second dessert on top, such as a waffle, a donut, or even a slice of cake.
Harrington’s personal favorite is The Buckeye.
“One because I created it, and two because it uses my grandma’s buckeye recipe,” said Harrington. “The shake is a peanut butter and brownie batter ice cream mixed together, we have buckeye red and white whip and two buckeyes on top.’”
The Yard also serves sundaes and edible cookie dough.
“We want it to be a fun place for people to come together, take their pictures and enjoy their own unique spin on it,” said Harrington.
The Yard Milkshake Bar is open seven days a week in Columbus’ Short North Arts District.
