MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The Myrtle Beach City Council has approved a resolution that should bring parties closer together when it comes to keeping the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in town.

The resolution enters the city, Horry County and the Pelicans into a memorandum of understanding.

The three parties are working towards a lease agreement that would keep the team in town for the next 20 years. The details would have the Pelicans annual payment at 750-thousand dollars.

This plan would be used to help cover the 20-million dollars worth of improvements that are required at the stadium by Major League Baseball.

The current MOU is non-binding between the parties. The Pelicans are set to hit the field at Pelicans Ballpark for the first time in 2025 on March 8th.
