Javari Burnett joined the Spectrum News 1 Ohio team in August 2024 as a multimedia journalist and is based in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He attended the University of Arkansas at Little Rock where he received his bachelor's degree in Mass Communications. He then continued his education, attending the University of Memphis, where he received his master's degree in Strategic Communications.
His passion for journalism began in high school, where he was a reporter for the school newspaper. He always had a knack for writing, so storytelling was a natural fit for him. In college, he interned with local news stations that would lead him to pursue a career in broadcasting.

He got his start in the industry at an ABC affiliate in Salisbury, MD. He spent three years there as a general assignment reporter and covered a variety of topics impacting life in the local community. Some of his interest areas include arts and culture, diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, economics, education, and finance. Javari believes that a good journalist must be curious about the world around them, have a desire to uplift voices from marginalized communities, and report accurate and fair information.

When he's not chasing his next story, you can find him writing, reading, listening to music, traveling, or binge-watching one of his comfort shows. Javari is also a big foodie and loves exploring the Midwest cuisine scene.
Javari has embraced the Midwest as his new home and hopes to make a lasting impact on the community. If you see him out and about, feel free to say hello!
