Camri Nelson is a multimedia journalist (MMJ) based in Cincinnati, who is a native of the Queen City and an alumna of UC. Since graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism, she has worked as a business reporter for the Lima News and then as a MMJ for Your Hometown Stations, a FOX/NBC/ABC/CBS-affiliated television station located in Lima.
While in Lima, Camri was the recipient of the 2017 Ohio Associated Press Best Business Writer Award and the Lima/Allen County Chamber of Commerce Young Leader of the Year Award, and was named to the Ohio School Boards Association Media Honor Roll. As a student writer for the University of Cincinnati’s College of Arts & Sciences, she published stories that highlighted alumni careers.
Camri loves living in Cincinnati and the story opportunities that a metropolitan city offers. From new development to events and organizations, there is always something interesting to report on. She also enjoys how diverse it is, as well as its amazing food. Her favorite spot for a quick lunch or dinner is Vera Cruz Mexican Restaurant in the Incline District.
Her favorite thing to do in the community is mentor youth. Prior to moving back to Cincinnati, she was a mentor through Big Brothers, Big Sisters and a youth ministry leader through Youth for Christ. She is very passionate about empowering the youth, especially those that are less fortunate.
One of six siblings (three sisters, two brothers), Camri grew up in greater-Cincinnati, first attending Fairfield City Schools before graduating from Highlands High School, across the river. She has a dog named Foxy and in her spare time enjoys roller skating, riding her bike, swimming, reading, and spending time with family and friends.
