At 37-years-old, South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg is the youngest candidate in the growing Democratic primary field for president.

The openly-gay mayor, who also served in Afghanistan as a Naval intelligence officer and is a Rhodes Scholar who attended Harvard and Oxford, launched an exploratory committee for president on January 23.
In an exclusive interview with Spectrum Washington reporter Taylor Popielarz, while in Brooklyn, New York for a book tour stop on Monday night, Buttigieg discussed his campaign.
Popielarz worked as a reporter in South Bend for nearly three years and covered part of Buttigieg’s tenure as mayor and his failed campaign for chair of the Democratic National Committee.
