The National Multiple Sclerosis Society estimates that nearly one million people in the United States live with multiple sclerosis (MS).  

MS occurs when a patient's immune system attacks the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. Patients may experience fatigue, physical impairment and the loss of cognitive function. 

In an interview with Spectrum News 1, Dr. Tirisham Gyang, who specializes in treating MS at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, shared information about the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment of MS.
