OHIO — Meal deliveries to rural Ohio are expanding through the Joe Burrow Foundation's partnership with the 740 Rescue Kitchen at Hocking College.

The 740 Rescue Kitchen was launched in 2024 and works to deliver healthy, chef-prepared meals which are given to schools, senior centers and families for free across a 10-county region in Appalachian Ohio.

The kitchen aims to address two urgent issues: food insecurity and food waste.

By collaborating with grocers, food manufacturers, farms and donors, the kitchen is able to intercept food that might otherwise go to waste and use it to create family-style meals.

Through the partnership between the Joe Burrow Foundation and Hocking College, the kitchen is continuing to expand its delivery infrastructure and meet the rising demand.

Hocking College will host a "From Surplus to Supper 2025" on Friday, April 11, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Hocking College campus.

The event will feature Gov. Mike DeWine, first lady Fran DeWine and other elected officials.

Donations will be accepted throughout the event that will go toward three initiatives, including building a volunteer hub, expanding the delivery fleet, paving the distribution lot and funding critical staff positions to manage food rescue, preparation and logistics.
