The planned dissolution of the East Syracuse Fire Protection District will be discussed at a public hearing Tuesday night in DeWitt.

Under the proposed plan, shared by the Town of DeWitt Board, the dissolution would cost approximately $8,500, with no assets, properties or liabilities to handle. There are also no public employees of the district to let go, according to the proposal.

The plan would have the DeWitt Fire District expand into the East Syracuse district in the wake of the dissolution.

DeWitt and the East Syracuse department's service agreement, which had the East Syracuse Fire Department covering the northern part of DeWitt, ended Jan. 1, according to the ESFD's Facebook page.

Tuesday's hearing is at 7 p.m. at 5400 Butternut Drive in East Syracuse. A town board vote on the dissolution could take place after the public hearing.
