Initially closed at the beginning of September 2024, the Manoa pool at the Coach Harry M. Mamizuka Swimming Complex in Manoa Valley District Park is scheduled to reopen in early June by the start of the Department of Parks and Recreation’s summer fun 2025 program.

The pool was originally closed to treat algae buildup on pool surfaces, however, staff discovered damage to its plaster and loose tiles on the pool floor. As renovations progressed, DPR personnel found they required professional assistance and put out a search for contractors that created a delay in resurfacing and repainting.

Renovations are now progressing with a $485,000 contract awarded to Peterson Construction. DPR is also working with the Mamizuka ʻOhana and community swim advocates to revitalize other pool amenities, including the starting blocks and bleachers.

While the Manoa pool is closed, pools at Palolo Valley District Park, McCully District Park and Kanewai Community Park are open.
