SEMINOLE, Fla. — A longtime Pinellas County resident is concerned about missing lane markings on several roads.
Ron Skidmore has lived in Pinellas County for more than 40 years, and says driving in the county feels a bit different now.
“I think it’s gotten a lot more aggressive," he said. "There’s a lot more people living here now."
That is why he gets concerned when he sees a road issue, like missing lane markings.
It recently became an issue at Oakhurst Road and Park Boulevared in Seminole.
The intersection was missing lane markings for the turn lanes for months after it was repaved.
Skidmore said that nearly led to a bus crashing into him.
“The bus came over into my lane and forced me up on the sidewalk," he said. "So, that’s what concerned me and that’s why I contacted Bay News 9."
Pinellas County crews did repaint the turn lane lines at the intersection last week.
But Skidmore said it’s an ongoing issue in other places in Pinellas, like on Rosery Road in Largo between Missouri and Highland avenues.
The yellow lines dividing traffic are nearly gone.
Largo officials say the City Commission just approved a construction contract for Rosery Road, which includes resurfacing and new road striping.
Work is expected to begin later this month or March, according to the city.
Skidmore is hoping more lane markings throughout the county can be restored to prevent a crash.
“It can be frustrating, because of all the things that can happen," he said. "People getting hurt."
