The woman who owns the Manhattan townhouse made famous by the TV show "Sex and the City" will be permitted to build a gate in front of the home to keep overzealous fans off the front steps.

The building, located at 66 Perry St., was used as the exterior to the character Carrie Bradshaw’s apartment in the HBO series.

In a written letter to the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, the owner of the building requested to install a steel and cast iron gate in front of the famous stoop to "regain a reasonable quality of life for residents."

"After 20 plus years of hoping the fascination with my stoop would die away and fans would find a new object for their devotion, I have acknowledged we need something more substantial," the building’s owner wrote in their application.

Previously, they had used a chain link fence barrier and a no-trespassing sign to keep fans off the stairs.

On Tuesday, the Landmarks Preservation Committee said the homeowner can install the gate, but they’ll have to simplify the design in order to preserve the original ironwork of the building.

"The presence of a stoop gate will not diminish the relationship to this building to others on the block,” the committee wrote. “The proposed work will not detract with the special historic and architectural character of the building."

The owner of the home needed permission to install the gate because the home is in the Greenwich Village Historic District, and changes must not degrade the neighborhood’s historic character.

The application for the gate was first reported by “Feed Me,” a Substack newsletter.
