COLUMBUS, Ohio — Brick by brick, millions of LEGO pieces are put together to create this massive installation of familiar Columbus landmarks and fictional scenes.
The project was built by 40 members from the Ohio LEGO User’s Group for patrons of all ages to enjoy.
“Every year this group comes together and creates this incredible installation that features some familiar Columbus landmarks, as well as some really fun and imaginative scenes, offering something for everyone to enjoy,” said Lydia Simon, the director of marketing and communications for the Columbus Museum of Art.
Along with indulging in the installation, there’s also an interactive aspect. Lego lovers can go on a museum-wide scavenger hunt, craft a masterpiece at a lego brick building zone and design your own mini-figure.
“You're able to really interact with and feel like you're bringing this installation to life,” said Simon.
This is the 11th year of this exhibition at the Columbus Museum of Art and every year the exhibit changes. But one thing that doesn’t change is its accessibility and celebration of creativity.
“We always offer something new. There's new and engaging features to explore every year and there's different designs and storyboarding and really just celebrate imagination and creativity and all the things that we value here at the Columbus Museum of Art,” said Simon.
A perfect combination of the infamous LEGO building bricks and art, this exhibition is a fun way to spend the weekend with family and friends. The think outside the brick exhibition is at the Columbus Museum of Art until March 13th 2025.
Admission to the exhibit is included in the general admission to the art museum. For more information, visit the columbusmuseum.org.
