CLEVELAND — St. Edward High School football team is one of the 28 teams left in the high school football playoffs.

Despite the Thanksgiving holiday, the Eagles didn’t take a day off.

What You Need To Know

  • St. Edward High School football team practiced on Thanksgiving ahead of the state semifinals

  • Friends, family and football team alumni went to the practice to watch

  • Eagles head coach, Tom Lombardo, said having alumni at the practice is really motivating for the team

There were friends, family and St. Eds football alumni that attended the Thanksgiving day practice. One alumnus is Danny Enovitch.

“Coming back and seeing what it’s become after we won the state championship in 2021 and then they kept going. They can make it a four-peat so it’s always awesome to see the work they are putting in,” Enovitch said.

He graduated in 2022 and played running back for the Eagles. He may be alumni now, but the friendships and memories he made while on the team stay with him. He called them “brothers for life”.

“The brotherhood, I mean, everyone on that team was my brothers for life. We still have our group chat, we still send stuff in it, we’ll send updates about the team,” Enovitch said.

Eagles head coach Tom Lombardo said having alumni like Enovitch out at practice ahead of a big game is really motivating for the team.

“When they see these guys, they know the standard that have to play up to and you know that’s what the goal is,” Lombardo said.

St. Edward takes on Oletangy Liberty Friday night.
