When David Barton is not running this haunted house, you can find him baking at a restaurant in Akron.

"Right here, we have a major prop, about 800 pounds, it’s from the movie Pacific Rim," he said.

Barton has until Dec. 30 to clean up all of his scary props and move out of the space he’s been renting for the last nine years.

"We were given no reason," he said. "We were given no option to negotiate, although I tried, and we were given a very short move out date."

Barton is a former Hollywood special effects artist who brought Hollywood to Akron and filled the haunted house with real props from movie sets like Jurassic Park, Hunger Games and Pacific Rim.

Barton said it’s what makes this haunted house different than others in Ohio.

"All these sets that you see are ones that I built, there is people that have helped with other aspects but you know most of the scenes in this haunted house are ones that I personally built, detailed, bought the stuff for, dressed, painted things like that," he said.

Barton said he'll lose money moving all the sets and props, and he's trying to buy himself some time.

"So we don’t know what’s going on, but it’s just really heartbreaking to see all this fantastic construction and design being destroyed," he said.

Barton said he will start a gofundme to help him with the financial challenges that will come with this closure.
