KIRTLAND, Ohio — Finding things to do with kids that are fun and educational can be tricky, but there’s one place in northeast Ohio that does just that.

What You Need To Know

  • Farmpark offers an educational experience in a fun environment

  • Corn and pumpkin weekend will offer a pumpkin soup tasting

  • Kid and adults have the opportunity to milk dairy cows

It’s corn and pumpkin weekend at Lake Metroparks Farmpark in Kirtland. The weekend is packed with everything from pumpkin bowling to milking cows and horse-drawn carriage rides, but it’s not all fun and games. They’ve managed to sneak in a little bit of learning, too.

“When you come to Farmpark, you realize that there’s different breeds of sheep. They (all) look different. They are really important. They give you meat. They give us wool and give us milk,” said Christina Bellas, Education Manager, Lake Metroparks Farmpark.

Farmpark is a working farm. Besides getting to see sheep of all colors, kids can learn about where milk comes from, meet a variety of chickens, and pet pigs and horses.

On the weekend of Oct. 5 they’ll have face and pumpkin painting, candy apples, cider and food trucks. A car show will also be part of the fun.
