COLUMBUS, Ohio — Tickets prices for Wednesday night’s Columbus Crew game were much higher than usual and for good reason.

It’s the first trip to Columbus for soccer legend Lionel Messi, as his Inter-Miami team takes on the Crew.

It’s a moment many Lionel Messi fans have been waiting for.

Donald Parker has been a fan of his since high school.

“I’ve kind of just fallen in love with it where I started watching every game,” Parker said. “Then, as he would keep playing, I would mark it on my calendar or whatever to make sure that I was seeing every game he played in.”

Parker, who’s from Columbus, will finally get the chance to see Messi play in-person in his hometown Wednesday night.

“He’s still probably one of the best players in the world,” Parker said. “Watching him play is almost like poetry, like it’s like a dance sometimes. Like, you just don’t think he’s doing anything, and all of a sudden, he has the ball, kicks it 50 yards on a dime to someone else, and they score. And it’s like, how did that happen?”

But as big of a Messi fan parker is, he still bleeds black and gold.

“It is exciting to see him, but I will say I’ve always been a Crew fan,” he said.
