COLUMBUS, Ohio — The Ohio State Buckeyes are taking on Western Michigan Saturday night for week two of college football. Some of the Buckeyes experienced their first game in the scarlet and gray last week, including Quinshon Judkins.

What You Need To Know

  • The Ohio State Buckeyes have a lot of new players this season, several of them transfers from other schools

  • The transfers include quarterback Will Howard, running back Quinshon Judkins and center Seth McLaughlin

  • The players were all excited after the season opener, playing in Ohio Stadium as a Buckeye for the first time

“Definitely a one of a kind experience,” Judkins said.

Judkins transferred from Ole Miss, and the season opener against Akron was his first time playing in Ohio Stadium as a Buckeye. Judkins said that he never saw that many fans at a home game when he played for the Rebels.

“I heard from my teammates, you know, since I’ve been here like it’s a dramatic difference and like people are super passionate, but just to see it in person is a whole other thing for sure,” Judkins said.

Quarterback Will Howard transferred from Kansas State and shared the same sentiment.

“It’s quite an environment, quite an atmosphere, and I’m just glad to be a part of it,” Howard said.

Howard explained that it’s the environment that’s fun but also playing with his other Ohio State teammates.

“It’s a freeing feeling when you know you can just kind of put the ball up and let those guys make adjustments, and you don’t have to be as perfect,” Howard said.

Seth McLaughlin, another transfer, came from Alabama. He expressed the emotions he felt playing in the first game.

“I started tearing up at like how exciting everything was," he said. "It’s a blessing to be here. It’s a blessing to be in this environment."

Howard said he knows he only gets a short amount of time wearing a Buckeye uniform, so he is making the most of it.

“I only have so many opportunities as a Buckeye, so I got to soak it all in and enjoy it while I’m here,” Howard said.
